Payton Wilson commits to NC State

4 star linebacker Payton Wilson has committed to NC State.

The 6-4, 225 pound Wilson, from Orange High School in Hillsborough NC, was originally committed to North Carolina but decommitted on November 22nd. 26 schools showed an interest in Wilson: Clemson, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Virginia Tech were among some of the major offers.

Wilson is ranked as the No. 25 player overall, No. 3 linebacker overall, and the No. 3 player from North Carolina according to 247Sports.

Before tearing his ACL, in 8 games Wilson completed 13-of-27 passes for 125 yards, rushed for 222 yards and five touchdowns on 67 carries, caught 15 passes for 263 yards and four touchdowns, posted 103 tackles and 10 sacks, intercepted one pass and recovered one fumble.

Last season he recorded 127 tackles, including 39 stops for loss, and 13 sacks.

Wilson is a U.S. Army All-American, and a nominee for the U.S. Army National Player of the Year award.
