The 6-4, 220 pound Parker, from South Oak Cliff High School in Dallas TX, chose Kansas over Arkansas, Baylor, Colorado, Houston, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Purdue, TCU, Texas Tech, UCLA, and UNLV. Parker, who grew up in Lubbock, had been committed to Texas Tech for nearly 19 months before backing off when coach Kliff Kingsbury and his staff were fired.
