RJ Mickens commits to Clemson

4 star safety RJ Mickens has committed to Clemson.

The 6-1, 188 pound Mickens, from Carroll High School in Southlake TX, chose Clemson over Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Stanford, Texas A&M, and others.

Mickens is rated the No. 1 safety and No. 42 overall in the 2020 class.

Mickens was named the District 5-6A Utility Player of the Year as a junior and helped lead Southlake Carroll to a run in the 6A DI state playoffs. Last season Mickens had 57 stops, 43 solo, with a pair of interceptions. Hešs averaged 5.2 tackles per game with seven picks over the last three seasons.

Mickens is the son of former longtime NFL cornerback Ray Mickens, who played with the New York Jets, Cleveland Browns and New England Patriots.
