USF baseball coach Kingston leaving

The University of South Florida will immediately begin a national search for a new head baseball coach following the departure of Mark Kingston for a similar position at the University of South Carolina.

"We thank Mark for his tremendous leadership of our baseball program over the past three seasons," USF Director of Athletics Mark Harlan said. "A pair of NCAA tournament appearances and four Bulls selected in the 2017 MLB Draft speak to the excitement around our baseball program and the caliber of student-athletes in it. We wish Mark and his family the very best.

"We are in an excellent position to continue to build a program that won 42 games last season. A national search is underway to identify a new leader for the USF baseball program, and I am confident we will find a fantastic coach who will be an excellent mentor for our student-athletes and continue the rise of our program."

Kingston began leading the USF baseball program in the 2015 season and took the Bulls to their first NCAA regional appearance in 13 years. USF returned to the NCAA regionals for the second time in three years in 2017 and finished the season with a 42-19 record that included wins over No. 3 Florida State and No. 5 Florida. Kingston posted a 100-78-1 record in three seasons leading the Bulls.
