5 star guard Darius Garland has committed to Vanderbilt.

The 6-1 Garland, a Gary native who played at Brentwood Academy in Tennessee, chose Vanderbilt over Indiana, Kentucky and UCLA.

He has led Brentwood to three consecutive Division II-AA state titles, and he was named Mr. Basketball twice. He averaged 23.4 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.4 steals last season.

As a sophomore, the 6-foot-2 Garland averaged 18.6 points, 4.3 assists and 2.5 steals per game for the state champion Eagles.

Over the summer, Garland competed for Bradley Beal Elite.
