Temple 16, Villanova 13

Sophomore Aaron Boumheri connected on a career long 49-yard field goal with one minute remaining to lift Temple to a hard-fought 16-13 win over Villanova.

The first half was a defensive battle as the only score on the board was a 22-yard field goal from senior kicker Austin Jones, until redshirt senior fullback Nick Sharga plowed forward for a one-yard touchdown run with one second remaining in the half to give the Owls a 10-0 lead.

The Temple defense held Villanova to 31 rushing yards and 98 passing yards in the first half.

On their first drive of the second half, the Owls marched into field goal range and sophomore kicker Aaron Boumerhi nailed a 44-yard field goal to extend the Owls' lead to 13-0.

In the third quarter, the Temple defense buckled down and forced a Villanova change of possession as the Wildcats were threatening in the redzone.

Villanova then scored 13 straight points, tying the game on a 34-yard Drew Kresge field goal with 3:29 remaining.

Redshirt junior WR Ventell Bryant made a one-handed 29-yard reception on the ensuing possession to help set up Boumheri's winning kick.

Sophomore LB Shaun Bradley forced a Villanova fumble with senior DE Sharif Finch recovering to seal the win.
