Final Score: (13) Penn State 35, Michigan 10

Ann Arbor, MI (Sports Network) - Daryll Clark tied a career-high with four touchdown passes as 13th-ranked Penn State produced a sound 35-10 defeat of Michigan at the Big House.

Clark was 16-of-27 for 230 yards while Graham Zug hauled in three touchdowns during a five-catch, 59-yard performance. Andrew Quarless caught two passes for 91 yards, including a 60-yard score, while Derek Moye finished with six catches for 53 yards.

Evan Royster ran for 100 yards on 20 carries for the Nittany Lions (7-1, 3-1 Big Ten), who have won convincingly the past four weeks since their lone loss of the season, a 21-10 home loss to Iowa on September 26.

The Nittany Lions defense, coming off a 20-0 whitewashing of Minnesota, was just as productive with junior linebacker Navorro Bowman leading the way. Bowman had 11 tackles, an interception, sack and fumble recovery. The defense notched five sacks in all and forced four turnovers.

It was Penn State's first road win against Michigan since 1996.

"That record's a little misleading because we haven't played them twice in a row. The way the schedule is, we play them one year and then don't play them the next. We told our kids not to worry about the past. Nothing we can do about that; we just got to play our game," Penn State head coach Joe Paterno said.

Freshman quarterback Tate Forcier was ineffective, connecting on just 13-of-30 throws for 140 yards with an interception. Backup Denard Robinson also threw an interception.

Brandon Minor rushed for 48 yards on 12 carries and produced the lone score for the Wolverines (5-3, 1-3), who have lost three of four since beginning the season with four straight wins. Greg Mathews caught seven passes for 70 yards in defeat.

"We obviously did not play well in any phase. We had some turnovers that killed us. I told the team I thought we had prepared well, but maybe we didn't. As coaches, we have got to try and do a little bit more to get our guys into some situations where we can have some success," said Michigan head coach Rich Rodriguez.

Michigan marched 70 yards in 11 plays with Minor's one-yard TD plunge capping the game's opening drive for an early 7-0 lead.

Penn State answered immediately, though, scoring in just four plays as a 41- yard Royster run set up Clark's 10-yard TD pass to Zug. Collin Wagner kicked a 34-yard field goal to finish off the Lions' next series for a 10-7 edge after one quarter.

It became a 12-7 game late in the second quarter when Michigan snapped the ball from its own two through the back of the end zone on a punt attempt. Just as quickly, it was 19-7 Penn State as the next play from scrimmage was a 60- yard scoring connection from Clark to Quarless.

"I thought [Daryll] Clark played a great game. In all fairness I don't think Daryll's received the credit he should have, because he's really played great football. People have been critical of him, but people didn't catch the ball," Paterno said. "Overall, I think everybody just made up their mind that we were going to show people we were a pretty good football team, and they came out here and played well."

Jason Olesnavage's 23-yard field goal just seconds before halftime made it a 19-10 game.

It was all Penn State in the second half as the defense ratcheted up the pressure and Clark rolled on with a 31-yard pass to Quarless that set up an 11-yard scoring grab by Zug less than 2 1/2 minutes in.

Robinson coughed up the ball near the midway point of the frame and Nick Sukay recovered at the Wolverines' 22. Two plays later, the Lions were back in the end zone on a 17-yard strike from Clark to Zug for a 22-point margin.

PSU then embarked on a back-breaking trek that began in the waning moments of the third and lasted nearly 10 minutes into the fourth. The drive only resulted in a 29-yard field goal from Wagner but it essentially sealed the Michigan's fate by leaving only 5:25 to play.

Game Notes

Michigan owns a 10-5 series advantage over Penn State despite the loss, but it was the Nittany Lions who prevailed in its previous meeting, ripping the Wolverines in Happy Valley last season, 46-17...This was the first of two straight road games for Penn State, which plays at Northwestern next week. Michigan is at Illinois next Saturday...PSU linebacker Josh Hull continued a solid senior season with 10 tackles and a sack. Safety Drew Astorino had the other interception for the Nittany Lions, who outgained Michigan 396-250...Penn State won the time of possession 34:48-25:12 and did not commit a turnover.
