Final Score: LSU 38, (14) Georgia Tech 3

Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Charles Scott ran for three touchdowns and LSU, the reigning national champs, steamrolled the 14th-ranked Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, 38-3, in the Chick-fil-A Bowl.

Scott finished with 65 yards on 15 carries for the Tigers (8-5), who capped a roller coaster-like campaign. LSU opened the 2008 season with four consecutive wins, but the Tigers dropped five of their next eight outings before Wednesday's dominant performance.

Offensive MVP Jordan Jefferson was a crisp 16-of-25 passing for 142 yards and a touchdown in the win.

Josh Nesbitt struggled mightily under center for the Yellow Jackets (9-4), completing only 8-of-24 attempts through the air for 150 yards and one interception.

Jonathan Dwyer totaled 67 yards rushing and had 66 yards on three receptions.

LSU struck on the game's opening possession, starting at its own 40-yard line after the kickoff landed out of bounds. Following a Scott 14-yard run on first down, Jefferson completed back-to-back 11-yard throws to place the ball at the Georgia Tech 24. After Keilan Williams picked up a minimal gain on the next play, Richard Dickson hauled in a 13-yard strike before a seven-yard scamper by Jefferson set up a 2nd-and-goal at the two. Scott then took it the rest of the way to give the Tigers an early 7-0 lead.

Scott Blair drilled a 24-yard field goal to put the Yellow Jackets on the board with 1:03 remaining in the first quarter, then LSU countered on the ensuing series as Scott pounded it in from four yards out at the 2:52 mark of the second frame.

The Tigers then opened up their bag of tricks, recovering an on-side kick but were unable to advance the ball. Andrew Smith, though, fumbled the punt and LSU's Ron Brooks scooped it up at the Georgia Tech 19. Scott eventually waltzed in from the one for a 21-3 lead.

Georgia Tech tried a gadget play on the subsequent drive, a fake punt at its own 22, and it backfired. LSU capitalized on the excellent field position and Dickson hauled in a 25-yard TD pass from Jefferson with 5:21 to go before halftime.

After another quick Georgia Tech series, Williams stretched the advantage to 35-3 with a 17-yard TD run just 1:27 before the intermission.

Colt David hit a career-long 53-yard field goal with 1:56 to play in the third quarter and LSU coasted to the easy win.
