Head coach Jim Schlossnagle and TCU baseball are set to host the sixth annual First Pitch Banquet on Feb. 6 at Ridglea Country Club. The banquet will provide fans the opportunity to meet the 2009 TCU Horned Frogs as well as interact with the coaching staff. Key note speaker at the event will be former American League president, Dr. Bobby Brown, which begins with a cocktail reception at 6:15 p.m. followed by dinner at 7 p.m.

The University of New Mexico baseball team will not be flying under the radar in the 2009 season. Collegiate Baseball newspaper announced its 2009 preseason Top 40 today and has the Lobos listed just outside the Top 40 in the receiving votes category.

San Diego State right-handed pitcher Stephen Strasburg was named to the 2008 USA Baseball National (Collegiate) Team, announced Tuesday, June 24. Strasburg is one of 20 players on a roster that consists of nine pitchers, nine position players and a pair of two-way players. The 2008 USA Baseball National Team will compete next month in the Haarlem Baseball Week in the Netherlands and at the FISU World Championships in the Czech Republic.

Pair of Holiday Clinics

Holiday clinics will again be held by BYU's baseball coaches in December at the Indoor Practice Facility. The first will be a Hitting Clinic on Dec. 12, 6–9 p.m.; Dec. 13, 10 a.m.–1 p.m. for ages 8-18 at a cost of $59.
