Tulane carries a four-game winning streak into this week as it welcomes No. 19 Kansas to New Orleans for a pair of mid-week games. Houston will put its six-game winning streak on the line this week as it continues its west coast road trip. The Cougars face San Francisco and Cal mid-week before opening a three-game set at No.1 Arizona State on Friday. Rice hosts No. 2 Texas on Tuesday before returning to California for the second time this season with a three-game series at San Diego. Southern Miss junior RHP Scott Copeland has been named Conference USA Pitcher of the Week after tossing a complete-game shutout against Missouri State last Saturday. Marshall junior C Victor Gomez and Rice sophomore 3B Anthony Rendon have been named the co-Hitters of the Week after putting up consistent, strong offensive production this past week.

Houston continues to be red-hot, becoming the first Conference USA team to sweep a three-game series in more than three years, taking all three contests at Cal Poly. Tulane posted a four-game sweep of Towson to move to 10-6 on the year, while Southern Miss swept Missouri State to move to 10-4. Marshall picked up a pair of wins at the Arby's Classic, including a 17-1 win over No. 17 Ohio State. UCF's offense scored 57 runs in three games against Hartford, including 22 and 24 in back-to-back outings.

Houston's Goodnight Named National Pitcher of the Week

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA)¬ released the Pro-Line Athletic National Player of the Week awards for the period ending March 7, today. Georgia State junior outfielder Mark Micowski was named National Hitter of the Week, while Houston sophomore right-handed pitcher Michael Goodnight was named National Pitcher of the Week. The NCBWA Board reviews candidates from each Division I Conference each week and names winners each Tuesday throughout the season.

It's California week in Conference USA. Three C-USA schools head out west for games in the Golden State, while Cal-Berkeley visits Rice for a four-game set. East Carolina will play a single game at Cal State Northridge before facing Pepperdine for a three-game set. Red-hot Houston begins a nine-game road trip with a series at Cal Poly this weekend. UAB will participate in the SDSU Invitational with games against San Diego, San Diego State and Cal State Fullerton.

USA Baseball has announced its preseason Golden Spikes Award Watch List for the 2010 season. The release of the watch list marks USA Baseball's first step toward identifying the top player in college baseball.
