After defeating San Diego (65-60) on Saturday in the season opener for both squads, and Texas-Pan American (73-48) on Tuesday, the UNLV men's basketball team will continue its Opening Week 2008-09 (four home games in eight days) with Northern Arizona on Thursday, Nov. 20, at 7 p.m. at the Thomas & Mack Center. The game is also being billed as "J-Mac at the Mack" night. In addition, the first 5,000 people in attendance will receive a free photo of the juniors (class of 2010) and coaches.

-Marcus Walker had a 3-pointer and key steal in the last two minutes and scored 31 points to lead Colorado State to an 85-74 victory over Northern Colorado Tuesday night. Walker was nine for 18 shooting and played 38 of 40 minutes in the game. Andy Ogide had 13 points and nine rebounds for Colorado State (2-0). Jefferson Mason led Northern Colorado (0-2) with 16 points and 10 rebounds. The Bears of the Big Sky Conference hurt themselves with 23 turnovers. The Rams led 67-57 after two free throws by Walker with 5:48, but Northern Colorado stormed back to get within 74-70 on a basket and free throw by Jabril Banks with 2:03 left.

-James Harden had a virus and his No. 15 Arizona State Sun Devils simply looked sick for most of their game against scrappy San Diego State. Telling himself to grind it out, Harden scored 18 points and helped the Sun Devils take control late in a 59-52 victory over the Aztecs on Tuesday night. After trailing most of the game, the Sun Devils (2-0) made three straight 3-pointers to go ahead for good. Rihards Kuksiks' long shot tied it at 44 with 6:04 left before Harden hit a 3 to give ASU just its second lead, 47-44. Kuksiks hit another shot from behind the arc for a 50-44 lead.

-Jonathan Tavernari had 17 points and 10 rebounds and Jimmer Fredette added 16 points to help BYU cruise past Pepperdine for a 82-53 win Tuesday night. Four players scored in double figures for BYU (2-0), who never trailed during the game. BYU guard Lee Cummard, last season's co-Mountain West Conference player of the year, finished with 13 points. BYU outscored Pepperdine 9-2 to start the second half and shot 60.9 percent from the field in the final 20 minutes. Keion Bell had nine points, seven rebounds and five assists for the Waves (1-2), who have lost two straight games.

The game featured four ties and five lead changes in the first half, with UNLV only making 35 percent of its shots. But the Rebels shot 42 percent in second half to outscore Texas-Pan American 46-24 and win convincingly. UNLV (2-0) opened the second half on a 9-2 run to build its first double digit lead. Freshman guard Oscar Bellfield keyed the outburst with five straight points.
