LOS ANGELES (AP)—Kayla Pedersen had season-high 25 points and nine rebounds as No. 2 Stanford defeated Southern California 89-64 to win the Pac-10 tournament championship for the sixth time and second consecutive year.

Pedersen finished 10-for-18 from the field for the Cardinal (29-4), who head into the NCAA tournament with a 16-game winning streak. Nnemkadi Ogwumike had 14 and Jeanette Pohlen added 10 for Stanford.

Camille Lenoir led USC (17-15) with 13 points and Kari LaPlante added 12.

Stanford went on a 21-1 run midway through the second, led by Jayne Appel. She was held to scoreless in the first, but had 12 in the second.

The Pac-10 Player of the Year had six points during that spurt and Stanford made three 3s to take a 34-point lead with 8:47 remaining.

The Trojans’ mistakes didn’t help and Stanford took advantage, scoring 28 off of turnovers.

No. 11 North Carolina 75, SOuth Dakota 69

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP)—Cetera DeGraffenreid scored 19 points to help No. 11 North Carolina rally in a tougher-than-expected tune-up for the NCAA tournament.

Jessica Breland added 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Tar Heels (27-6), who added the game to the schedule to fill the annual two-week gap between the end of the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament and the NCAAs.

North Carolina was coming off a 95-84 loss to No. 4 Maryland in the ACC semifinals last week, ending a run of four straight league tournament titles.

The only problem was the Coyotes (18-11) didn’t play the role of the overmatched team despite the fact they’re in their first year of Division I competition. They hit 10 of their first 13 3-pointers to take a 41-32 halftime lead.
