SMU Drops Opening WNIT Game, 66-51

Christine Elliott recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds as SMU (20-11) ended its season at New Mexico (19-12), 66-51. Brittany Gilliam led the Mustangs with 14 points and handed out six assists. Haley Day scored 12 points and Jillian Samuels added 11 points. The Mustangs went 17-of-19 from the free-throw line (89.5-percent).

C-USA Sports Two On The WBCA All-Region IV Team

Houston, SMU and East Carolina as well as Memphis will extend its women's basketball season by playing in the WNIT and the Inaugural Women's Basketball Invitational starting Wednesday. Houston (17-14) earned the league's automatic bit to the WNIT, after Tulane (26-6) advanced to the NCAA Championship. SMU (20-10) and ECU (22-10) received at-large bids to the WNIT, while Memphis (17-13) will be one of 16 teams competing in the WBI.
